Victims Support Fund

The Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund (PCVSF) was set up in July 2014 at the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency as a non-military response to the terror activities. The PCVSF is made up of individuals drawn from the private sector, humanitarian and development agencies, security agencies, government agencies as well as civil society and religious organisations. The Committee is chaired by General T. Y. Danjuma and has the following Terms of Reference:

  • Identify sources and ways of raising sustainable funding to support victims of Boko Haram activities
  • Develop appropriate strategies for the fund raising
  • Ascertain the persons, communities, facilities and economic assets affected by Boko Haram terror activities
  • Assess and determine the appropriate support required in each case
  • Manage, disburse and/or administer support to the victims as appropriate
  • Address related challenges as may be appropriate
  • Advise Government on other matter(s) necessary or incidental to support victims of Boko Haram terror activities.

OUR PROGRAMME AREAS

We strive to be the foremost knowledge-driven and programme-based organisation, mobilising sustainable funding and building partnerships for the support and transformation of victims of terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria

Women Economic Empowerment

Empowering women to establish small scale enterprises through cash support

Educational Support Programme

VSF supports access to improved quality of education for children whose education has been affected by the insurgency

Foster Care

This intervention identifies orphaned, unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and places them in the foster care system where the children would have a safe place to stay and family to care for their needs

Reconstruction and Infrastructural Development

VSF has embarked on the rebuilding and renovation of public structures and social utilities destroyed during the onslaught of the insurgents

Health Systems Strengthening

VSF has made grants available to hospitals to enable the hospitals to improve their capacity to treat victims and procure drugs and other medical consumables needed for free treatment and medical care of victims of the insurgency.

Research and Peace building

VSF provides quality reliable data and information on Insurgency and Terrorism in Nigeria. VSF generated data is aggregated in an accessible database and regularly updated to reflect new and emerging trends will be disseminated
