VICTIMS SUPPORT FUND EMPOWERS 1000 WOMEN VICTIMS OF INSURGENCY

Victims support fund has launched its Women Economic Empowerment Programme in Maiduguri the Borno State capital. 1000 women were given 20 million naira to help enhance their means of livelihood. The goal is to assist  5000 women in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe who have been affected by the insurgency in Nigeria.

The Executive Director VSF stated that the funds were “aimed at economically empowering women victims to help boost their various trades. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen their businesses and life skills to generate income and therefore improve the overall wellbeing of their households”.

The Vice Chairman of VSF Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah who represented the Chairman General T. Y. Danjuma, presented certificates to the women. He confirmed that this initiative would be ongoing. He also advised the women to use the funds solely for its intended purpose.

In his response, the Borno state Governor Alhaji Kashim Shettima who was represented by the Deputy Governor Alhaji Usman Durkwa appreciated VSF for its interventions and advised the women to ensure they utilize the funds judiciously for their various trades.
