VICTIMS SUPPORT FUND TASK FORCE ON COVID-19 TO BEGIN DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD AND MEDICAL ITEMS.

 

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) Task Force on COVID-19 will on Tuesday 14th April 2020, begin the distribution of food and medical consumables to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the most vulnerable in communities across the country. The Task Force on COVID 19 was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Victims Support Fund, Gen TY Danjuma RTD to provide palliative measures to Internally Displaced Persons and the vulnerable as well as institutions and agencies supporting the national efforts to fight COVID 19 as part of its contribution to national efforts against COVID-19.

 

The Task Force which is headed by a member of the VSF Committee, Mrs. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, will distribute a unit each of 10 kg bags of rice, beans, maize, garri, 4 litres of vegetable oil, and 2kgs of salt to 27,000 households across Lagos, Ogun, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba States and the FCT. Critical stakeholders and partners across these states will also be provided with medical consumables, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in support of the fight against COVID19.

 

The Task force is working closely with all the relevant agencies at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels working to contain the pandemic. The Task Force has developed a sensitization package which will be deployed for nationwide sensitization campaigns to inform and educate the populace on the need to observe hygiene and sanitation guidelines in order to curtail the further spread of the disease.

 

The VSF is committed to sustaining efforts in the global fight against the devastating Corona Virus pandemic. VSF will continue to work to provide succor to victims of insurgency and armed conflict in Nigeria especially in the areas of livelihood and recovery, education and protection, infrastructural development as well as research and peacebuilding.
