GABASAWA INITIATIVE PARTNERS WITH VICTIMS SUPPORT FUND TO EQUIP PRIMARY HEATLH CARE CENTRES IN THE NORTHEAST

The Nigeria Foundation for the Support of Victims of Terrorism (VSF) in partnership with GABASAWA Women and Children Initiative and PCNI on the 19th and 20th of May 2016 donated medical equipment and supplies to Yobe State and Borno State Primary Healthcare Management Board.

In her remark at the presentation ceremony the Chairman of Gabasawa Initiative Mrs. Doris Yaro noted the extent of destruction caused by the insurgency in Yobe State and how it has led to deteriorating health situation in the Northeast, especially among the IDP’s. In an effort to reduce the suffering among the IDP’s, Gabasawa collaborated with Project Cure, VSF and PCNI to donate the medical equipment and supplies.

The Executive Director of VSF Dr. Sunday Ochoche stated that prior to this collaboration, VSF has been supporting the health system through VSF’s Hospital Support Project where VSF supported 14 hospitals He further explained that VSF  would continue to execute its programme  of enhancing access to quality medical care.

In the same vein, the Vice Chairman VSF Committee and PCNI Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah pledged continual support to the victims of insurgency and handed over the medical equipment and supplies to the Primary Healthcare Management Board.
