4000 Farmers Receive N60,000 Assistance from Victims Support Fund

Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Monday 27th June 2016 launched its Agro-based Emergency Response Project in Yobe and Taraba States. The intervention is aimed at improving food security, restoring the livelihood of victims of insurgency and supporting the process of reconstruction and return to normalcy in recovered areas through support for agro enterprise. 2000 households in Taraba and 2000 in Yobe have been mapped out to benefit from the assistance.

The Executive Director VSF Dr. Sunday Ochoche during the launch said that the agro based intervention is imperative especially with the onset of the rainy season which marks the beginning of the farming season. He further explained that beneficiaries will be given direct cash assistance and inputs worth N60,000. The inputs include seeds, fertilizer, livestock, herbicides and pesticides. The project will encourage a shift from dependence on humanitarian aid to self-reliance, reduce vulnerability and strengthen the ability to rebuild their lives and communities.

The state governments appreciated the timely intervention and support of Victims Support Fund and appealed to the beneficiaries to work hard and make everyone including themselves proud.

The beneficiaries in their response expressed gratitude for the support from VSF and assured that they would work hard and pray that God gives them bountiful yield.
