Plateau State Communities Benefit from Victims Support Fund Covid 19 Emergency Support Programme

On Sunday 22nd November 2020, The VSF Task Force on COVID-19 flagged-off the Emergency Support Programme with the distribution of food and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’S) to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as well as the indigent in communities in Plateau State. The Task Force was mandated to provide palliative measures to the most affected vulnerable people and institutions and agencies supporting the fight against COVID 19.

 

The items are expected to reach over 28,725 direct beneficiaries. The Task Force will distribute rice, beans, maize, vegetable oil, salt, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) to 5,745 households across the State. Six (6) Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have been selected to distribute 50% of the items, the Plateau State Government will receive fifty percent (50%) of the food items while local Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) will receive and distribute 50% directly to IDPs and vulnerable people.

The VSF expended one hundred and twenty-four million five hundred thousand naira only (124,500,000) to procure items for Plateau State. The entire third phase of the Covid 19 Intervention cost 1 billion naira only (1,000,000,000)

The VSF remains committed to sustaining efforts in the fight against the devastating corona virus pandemic. The VSF continues to work to provide succour to victims of insurgency and armed conflict in Nigeria in the areas of livelihood and recovery, education and protection, infrastructural development as well as research and peacebuilding
