UN Resident Humanitarian Coordinator & UNDP Resident Representative Pays VSF Executive Director a Courtesy Visit on Collaboration and the Way Forward

The United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Edward Kallon paid a courtesy visit on the Executive Director of the Victims Support Fund Dr. Sunday Ochoche to share his vision and further strengthen collaboration between the UN System and VSF.

Mr. Kallon explained that he recently assumed duty in Nigeria and was aware that there are huge challenges faced in the Northeast but was pleased that the situation had improved as over 2 million people had received assistance as against the 100,000 in the last quarter of 2016. He further revealed plans to work on a coordinated platform for delivery of humanitarian assistance and looked forward to a vibrant partnership with VSF.

Dr. Sunday Ochoche in his response said that VSF has always partnered with the UN especially as the UN was on the Committee of the Victims Support Fund. He also pointed out that VSF executed its programmes in some areas where the UN could not access due to insecurity, and that VSF had made huge impact in the Northeast.  Dr. Ochoche further unveiled VSFs plans  to scale up its interventions in the Northeast in 2017 in areas of Women Economic Empowerment, Educations Support, Foster Care, Psychosocial Support, Agro Intervention, Health System Strengthening and notably Rebuilding Public Structures to engender return of governance institutions.
