Victims Support Fund Commissions Baseline Assessment of Communities Affected by the Insurgency in the Northeast

Victims Support Fund on Wednesday 15th November 2017 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies (CDRM&DS) of the University of Maiduguri to carry out a baseline assessment of communities affected by the insurgency in the Northeast.

The assessment seeks to determine the state of voluntary return of victims from camps and host communities to their communities which may have been ravaged by insurgents. The assessment is to help ensure that VSF interventions evolve to suit and meet the various needs of the humanitarian crises while providing a framework as well as information mechanism for improved programme planning and implementation.

The CDRM&DS will collaborate with VSF partner Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMA) to collect and analyse relevant data as well as evaluate feedback gotten from the communities. The assessment will deepen the understanding of issues and elements of return as VSF continues to work to help rebuild lives and restore livelihood.
