VSF, UNICEF AND THE NIGERIAN ARMY SUPPORT BAMA INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS.

The Nigeria Foundation for the Support of Victims of Terrorism (VSF) in Conjunction with UNICEF and The Nigerian Army visited the IDP camp in Bama. The purpose of the visit was to distribute medical supplies, grinding machines, diesel and recreational toys.

The Executive Director VSF Dr. Sunday Ochoche explained that the supplies were meant to cater for the immediate needs of the IDPs as they have lived in isolation ever since the town was invaded and razed by insurgents.  Dr. Ochoche stated that this was the first joint intervention between VSF, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Nigerian Army and hoped that many more of such partnerships would be fostered.

Brigadier General Aliyu appreciated VSFs prompt support as well as the medical supplies from UNICEF. He explained that the army had hitherto catered for the IDPs since they were rescued from the insurgents.

In his response, the Executive Governor of Borno state represented by the Chairman Bama Local Government Area Alhaji Modu Ali Guja commended the efforts of VSF, UNICEF and the Nigerian Army. He reiterated the commitment of the state government to the plight of the victims and explained that reconstruction had begun in some places.
